Surveys Update and Preorders!

Hey!

Wanted to check in with everyone and give you the current state of things. 

Like we have mentioned before, we are using Backerkit to help with organizing our fulfillment efforts and preorders. Preorders are live now at https://science-abridged.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders.

Please note! We are allowing people to place additional orders for a short time via backerkit. If you already backed, but want to add something, please don't set up a separate order! You'll just have to pay shipping twice. Wait until you get a backerkit survey.

Speaking of surveys, we will be sending them out to the email address you use for Kickstarter on August 7th. Why not tomorrow? Because we want to give everyone a little time to resolve any payment issues they. If you are having a payment issue, or any other problem, please comment here or send a message.

As for eBooks, we will be making another post before the end of the month with links and instructions for getting your eBooks.

Hey geeks! A quick note on some internal stuff y'all might find interesting.

Our original plan was to route all Soonish sales through Strand Books. That was before we realized how many would sell! Since we've got so many going out the door, and since there are so many awesome indie bookstores, we decided to spread the love a little.

Therefore, in addition to Strand, we are also working with Austin's BookPeople, a local favorite! So, once again, by grabbing a copy of Soonish via this kickstarter, you're not just supporting us, you're supporting awesome independent book stores.

Here's a quick surprise everyone!

One of the chapters in Soonish is about Augmented Reality, a technology in which reality and virtuality come together. Okay, so that doesn't really mean a lot - it's easier to explain with an example.

SO, if you have an apple device, go here to check out a free app that'll make a Space Elevator appear anywhere the app can see the cover of the book!

Hey!

First, we wanted to give you all a very big thanks. This was a bit of an experiment for us, and it went way better than we'd hoped.

We are answering your questions as they come in, and we will also be building out a FAQ, so be sure to check that out as the campaign continues. While we build that, we wanted to quickly answer the most frequent questions we've gotten so far:

I don't live in the UK. Can I get the UK version of Soonish?

Unfortunately this is trickier than you might imagine. For folks in Australia, it will overall be cheaper for you to just buy the Mini-Book Two-Pack and pick up Soonish in October locally. It will have the UK spelling (or as we keep being reminded by some of you, the correct spelling). 

If you are in Canada and you want the UK version, you're pretty much in the same boat. The short version is that the "US Edition" is really the North American edition. If you want the UK edition with its "correct" spelling, your best bet is to buy a copy online at one of the sellers listed on our UK page.

Do we get access to the space elevator rewards if we back Soonish on Kickstarter?

Yes! Sign up for the mailing list via this google form, and list your retailer as "Kickstarter." But please note: physical rewards are a special offering from our US publisher, and are thus only available to US customers/backers.

Can I just get the Soonish eBook?

Not via the Kickstarter (it's complicated), but you can pre-order now from the sellers listed on the Soonish page. You'll receive it in October along with everyone else!

I want X reward level -OR- I want to add X item to my pledge. 

We hear you on all of these requests, and we are currently working on adding more reward levels. The reason we can't do this instantaneously is that new items affect shipping rates. So, before we can sell, we need to run some numbers with our distributors.

We are also working to set up a way for backers to add items to their orders after this Kickstarter has ended. We will post updates here, so keep an eye out.
